We were originally founded in 2014 by Andre Griggs, and he had a vision on his mind of change. We have partnered with Smiley Riley in the past and have done activities at schools to support students and families. We ran into a slight hick-up in 2020 with the pandemic, but we were not stopped. We started going door to door and helping families in need, delivering them things that they needed during this horrible time. We officially reopened in 2021 and we opened at our current location, and we have been continuing our voyage of poetic justice ever since.
We do what we do here at R.J.L because we want to end the constant school to prison pipeline that is existent in our schools that are in under-served communities; Andre Griggs piloted the Restorative Justice League concept incorporating 12 students working together as a panel/circle team which developed into the Restorative Justice League so that students can be connected with a platform to share their voice, views and opinions without judgement or shame.
Our goal is to provide a multi-tiered system of framework and relational approach, establishing the social culture and behavioral supports necessary for schools to be safe, caring, and provide an effective learning environment for all.
